How can I change my BrainUs account details (email, password, etc.)?

You can update most of your account details anytime in Account Settings!

What You Can Change

Profile Information:

  • Display name
  • Username
  • Profile picture
  • Date of birth
  • Grade level
  • School
  • Subjects
  • Bio/description

Account Settings:

  • Email address
  • Password
  • Privacy settings
  • Notification preferences
  • Language/Medium (Sinhala/English/Tamil)

How to Update Profile Info

  1. Log in to BrainUs
  2. Go to Account (Settings) > Edit Profile
  3. Click Edit next to any field
  4. Make your changes
  5. Click Save

Change Email Address

  1. Go to Account (Settings) > Edit Profile
  2. Click Change Email
  3. Enter new email address
  4. Verify with current password
  5. Check new email for verification link
  6. Click link to confirm change

Important: Your old email will receive a notification of this change for security.

Change Password

Or directly in account settings:

  1. Go to Account (Settings) > Security (Coming Soon)
  2. Click Change Password
  3. Enter current password
  4. Enter new password (twice)
  5. Click Update Password

Note: Security settings are currently under development.

Update Grade/Subjects

Change Grade Level:

  1. Account (Settings) > Edit Profile
  2. Update Current Grade and Subjects
  3. Adjust subjects if needed
  4. Save changes

This updates:

  • Quiz difficulty
  • Recommended content
  • Learning paths
  • Exam countdown timers

Change Username

One-Time Change:

  • You can change username once every 30 days
  • Old username becomes available for others after 90 days
  • Friends will be notified of change

How to Change:

  1. Account (Settings) > Edit Profile
  2. Click Edit Username
  3. Enter new username
  4. Check availability
  5. Confirm change

Profile Privacy

Control who can see your profile:

  • Public: Anyone can view
  • Friends Only: Only approved friends
  • Private: Nobody except you

What Others Can See (depending on privacy):

  • Display name
  • Profile picture
  • Grade and subjects
  • Achievements and badges
  • Quiz statistics
  • Leaderboard ranking

Account Verification

Verify Your Email:

  • Increases account security
  • Required for some features
  • Check inbox for verification email
  • Click link to verify

Student Verification:

  • Upload student ID for discounts
  • Verify school email
  • Get student badge on profile

Can't Change Something?

Some fields are locked:

  • Date of birth (contact support to change)
  • Account creation date
  • Historical statistics

Contact privacy@brainus.lk if you need to change locked fields.
